Wizkid’s Documentary Long Live Lagos to Premiere at Tribeca Film Festival 2025

Afrobeats icon Wizkid is taking his global story to the big screen with the upcoming documentary Long Live Lagos, set to premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival 2025. The film will be screened on June 6, 7, and 11, shining a spotlight on Wizkid’s meteoric rise from the streets of Lagos to the global stage.

Directed by Karam Gill, Long Live Lagos is an intimate portrayal of the superstar’s journey, capturing how he helped reshape the global music landscape and pushed African sounds into mainstream consciousness. It’s a celebration of culture, resilience, and the impact of music beyond borders.

The documentary features in-depth interviews with some of the people closest to Wizkid’s story, including 5-time Grammy nominee Femi Kuti, manager and partner Jada Pollock, veteran music executive Sunday Are, media personality Julie Adenuga, and cultural curator Seni Saraki.

Wizkid will also join Karam Gill in a special live conversation at Tribeca, where he’ll reflect on his trailblazing journey, share behind-the-scenes stories, and offer insight into the making of Long Live Lagos.

This documentary comes five years after Wizkid’s Made In Lagos (Deluxe) short film and adds to his growing visual legacy. It places him alongside African greats like Fela Kuti and William Onyeabor, whose lives and influence have also been documented on film.

Long Live Lagos is more than just a look at Wizkid’s rise, it’s a testament to the global power of Afrobeats and the cultural force Lagos continues to be. As the world tunes in, the documentary cements Wizkid’s legacy as a pioneer and cultural ambassador for a new generation.
