Nigerian Afrobeats megastar Wizkid has officially revealed the name of his youngest daughter, and it’s a touching tribute to someone very dear to his heart.
On Saturday, June 8, 2025, the Grammy-winning artist took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the name of his six-month-old daughter: Morayo Balogun. The name is a homage to his late mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in 2023.
“Morayo Balogun,” he tweeted simply, letting the name speak volumes.
The announcement comes shortly after Wizkid’s first public appearance with baby Morayo at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The event, which marked the premiere of his new documentary “Wizkid: Long Live Lagos”, was a major moment not only for his career but also for his family.
Wizkid and Morayo turned heads as they showed up in matching white outfits, radiating father-daughter charm. Her mother, Jada Pollock, looked equally stylish in a pink-and-white tie-dye dress paired with red sunglasses.
The revelation of Morayo’s name ends months of speculation. Fans first caught wind of her birth back in January, when Wizkid hinted at missing his “princess” in a heartfelt tweet. Morayo is his second child with Jada, after Zion Ayo-Balogun, who was born in 2017. The couple also welcomed another child in late 2022.
Wizkid and Jada’s relationship has seen its fair share of ups and downs. In 2023, the singer publicly declared he was single, sparking breakup rumors and a fiery response from Jada, who called him out for taking their private matters online. Just last month, she unfollowed him on Instagram, reigniting speculation about a possible split.
However, their united front at Tribeca, walking the red carpet together with their daughter, has left fans wondering if a reconciliation might be in the works.
For now, though, one thing is clear: Wizkid’s heart is full of love for his little girl, Morayo, and her name carries the weight of legacy, memory, and maternal devotion.
Stay tuned, because with Wizkid, there’s always more than meets the eye.
