Grammy-winning Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has revealed that Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, is his favorite musician.
The revelation came during a heartfelt visit to the Fuji maestro’s Ijebu Ode residence, where Wizkid offered condolences following the loss of Wasiu Ayinde’s mother.
In a lighthearted exchange with the children of the legendary musician, Wizkid was asked about his favorite artist apart from himself. Without hesitation, he declared Wasiu Ayinde as “his favorite artist in the universe.” He went on to praise the Fuji icon for his music’s profound impact, noting that Wasiu Ayinde has inspired multiple generations, including his own.
This admiration underscores the enduring influence of K1 De Ultimate, whose career spans over four decades. Widely regarded as a pioneer in popularizing the Fuji genre, Wasiu Ayinde has left an indelible mark on Nigerian music and culture.

The Fuji legend performed at the star-studded burial ceremony for Wizkid’s late mother in 2024, and their connection extends into the music. Wizkid even sampled a performance by Wasiu Ayinde in the opening track of his latest album, Morayo.
During his conversation with the children of the Fuji maestro, Wizkid was also asked about his favorite car. He named his latest luxury purchase, the McLaren 750S, which is valued at over ₦500 million.
