Wizkid Launches ‘Morayo’ Era with New Single Featuring Brent Faiyaz

Wizkid sets new record for longest gap between NO. 1 songs in Nigeria

Nigerian megastar Wizkid has officially kicked off the highly anticipated ‘Morayo’ era with the announcement of his first single of 2024. After months of eager anticipation for his sixth album, ‘Morayo’, Wizkid took to social media on September 17, 2024, to reveal a new track titled ‘Pieces of My Heart’ featuring American R&B star Brent Faiyaz.

Set for release on Friday, September 20, 2024, the track will be the first glimpse fans get into the direction of his new project, which he has described as his best work yet. The album ‘Morayo’, named in honor of his late mother who passed away in 2023, marks a deeply personal chapter for the award-winning artist.

The announcement of ‘Pieces of My Heart’ comes as fans celebrate the 10th anniversary of Wizkid’s iconic sophomore album ‘Ayo’, which featured the global hit ‘Ojuelegba’. The tribute to ‘Ojuelegba’ reflects on its monumental role in taking Nigerian music to the world stage, further cementing Wizkid’s status as a trailblazer in Afrobeats.

While 2024 has seen Wizkid collaborate on remixes of DJ Tunez’s ‘Apala Disco’ and Shenseea’s ‘Work Me Out’, ‘Pieces of My Heart’ marks his first solo release of the year and officially kicks off the ‘Morayo’ era. With Brent Faiyaz on board, fans can expect a fusion of Afrobeats and R&B vibes, offering a taste of what’s to come from one of Nigeria’s greatest music exports.
