Wizkid Captivates Fans at 2025 Greater Lagos Concert with Prayers and a Heartfelt Message

Superstar Afrobeats artist Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, once again demonstrated why he holds a special place in the hearts of fans. The 34-year-old Nigerian music icon delivered a memorable performance at the Greater Lagos Countdown to 2025 concert, blending entertainment with heartfelt moments.

Midway through his electrifying set, as fans celebrated the New Year, the Dance (Kese) hitmaker paused to pray for his audience in his native Yoruba language. Wizkid’s prayers were filled with warmth and good wishes:

“First of all, Happy New Year. You will live long on earth. You will be rich. Long life and prosperity for you and all the members of your family.”

The multi-award-winning artist, who hails from Ojuelegba in Surulere, Lagos, didn’t stop there. He seized the moment to share what he called a “very important” message with his fans:

“I have a very important message for you today, Lagos Nigeria. I want you to know that your son, Ayodeji Balogun, AKA Big Wiz, Machala, The Biggest Bird. I want you to know that I am back home now.”

The announcement sent the crowd into a frenzy, reaffirming Wizkid’s bond with his home base as he continued to perform his hits.

This appearance was particularly notable as Wizkid joined fellow Afrobeats superstars Burna Boy and Davido at the End-of-the-Year Party hosted by Oando Plc. The event marked a rare moment where the “Big Three” shared the same stage, despite their ongoing differences.

Fans were especially surprised by Wizkid and Davido performing at the same event, given their highly publicized feud, which reached a boiling point in April 2024 with a messy online exchange. Reports indicate that the two are yet to reconcile.

Wizkid’s heartfelt prayers and powerful performance underscored his connection with his fans and his enduring status as one of Nigeria’s most beloved artists. His return to Lagos and his message of love and prosperity resonated deeply, making the Greater Lagos Countdown to 2025 concert a night to remember.
