Iconic music legend, Queen Salawa Abeni, has warmed the hearts of fans with her captivating cover of Asake’s hit song Fuji Vibes. The 63-year-old veteran, renowned for her influence on the Fuji genre, brought her signature style to the trending track, reminding fans of her musical prowess.

Salawa Abeni, who gained widespread fame in the 70s and 80s with her Waka music, delivered an impressive rendition of Fuji Vibes in a viral studio video. The song, originally from Asake’s third album Lungu Boy, showcases the continued impact of Yoruba indigenous music on contemporary Afrobeats. In her cover, Abeni effortlessly infused her timeless sound into the modern Fuji-influenced hit, bridging the gap between generations of Nigerian music lovers.

Abeni’s iconic career took off in 1976 when she became the first female Yoruba artist to sell a million copies with her debut album General Murtala Ramat Muhammad, a tribute to the late Nigerian head of state. With a career spanning over four decades, she has paved the way for future female artists in the Fuji genre, solidifying her legendary status in Nigerian music history.

Asake’s Fuji Vibes, from his 14-track album Lungu Boy, has quickly become a fan favorite, gaining widespread attention on social media. The album also features star-studded collaborations with Grammy-winning artist Wizkid, British rappers Stormzy and Central Cee, and Brazilian sensation Anitta, further cementing Asake’s position as a global music star.
