VMAs 2024: Burna Boy, Ayra Starr Miss Out, Full List of Winners

The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) took place in New York on Wednesday night, with major wins and notable misses. Nigerian stars Burna Boy and Ayra Starr were among the nominees but didn’t take home any awards.

The event, hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, featured performances from top artists such as Eminem, Camila Cabello, and Lenny Kravitz.

BEST COLLABORATION:
Taylor Swift ft. Post Malone – “Fortnight” (Winner)

Despite the stellar competition, Burna Boy’s “City Boys” and Ayra Starr’s collaboration with Giveon on “Last Heartbreak Song” lost out in the Best Afrobeats category, which was won by Tyla’s “Water.”

The 2024 VMAs reflected the dominance of Taylor Swift, who walked away with multiple awards, including Artist of the Year and Best Pop. Burna Boy and Ayra Starr’s nominations highlighted the continued global rise of Afrobeats, even as they missed out on victories.
