Blogger Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has disclosed how he came into possession of the controversial phone recording involving crossdresser Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky. The revelation was made during his appearance before a House of Representatives panel on Monday. The panel is investigating bribery allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

The panel, comprising the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions, summoned EFCC and NCoS personnel to address allegations of bribery and corruption that were brought forward by the blogger. According to VeryDarkMan, the phone recording, which features Bobrisky allegedly discussing a N15 million bribe to drop money laundering charges against him, was obtained from an individual Bobrisky reportedly owed money.

VeryDarkMan had initially refused to speak before the committee in Bobrisky’s absence, as the crossdresser sent a lawyer instead. However, the lawmakers compelled him to address the panel despite his reluctance. He reiterated that his lawyer would handle the matter and address any questions from the committee.

The recording, which has stirred public debate, relates to Bobrisky’s alleged payment to secure leniency from EFCC after his sentencing to six months’ imprisonment for naira spraying in April.
