Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has officially parted ways with her longtime manager, Kemi “Mekka” Akunyili, and is urging promoters and fans to stop directing bookings through him.
In a series of candid Instagram Stories, the award-winning Nigerian singer announced her new management is now being handled by Vanessa Amadi, and all business inquiries should go through her verified email: vanessa.amadi@vapr.co.uk.
Tiwa expressed disappointment over continued miscommunication despite previously issuing multiple notices about the split. According to her, people are still reaching out to Mekka for bookings, which has already resulted in potential financial losses.
“I do not work with Mekka anymore,” Tiwa wrote. “Any bookings that go through any other channel will be void and you will lose your money.”
In her posts, she emphasized that even if a booking routed through Mekka eventually makes it to her, she will reject it. She reiterated her decision is final and that she won’t take responsibility for any deals made without her new manager’s approval.
“I hate coming on social media for this,” she added. “But I can’t reach every promoter individually. I just got a call that money for an upcoming show was paid into Mekka’s personal account. I’m saying it again for the last time, do not go through him.”
Tiwa also noted that she usually avoids addressing private matters online but was compelled to speak out in order to protect herself and those who might unknowingly fall into the wrong hands.
This update follows recent controversy involving her new manager, Vanessa Amadi. Just last month, Tiwa’s ex-husband, Tee Billz, publicly accused Vanessa of overbooking Tiwa, alleging it affects her parenting time with their son, Jamal.
Despite the noise, Tiwa remains focused on her career and clear about how she wants her business to be handled moving forward.
