Veteran Nigerian music star Timaya has worked with numerous artists throughout his career, but two stand out the most for him: BNXN and the late Kefee. In a recent interview with Channels TV, the Dancehall icon revealed that these two collaborations left a lasting impression on him.
Reflecting on his experience with Kefee, who was a prominent voice in Nigerian music during the 2000s, Timaya described their work together on the hit track ‘Kokoroko’ as unforgettable. “She had the voice of an angel,” he shared, recalling how awestruck he was as Kefee seamlessly recorded her verse and chorus for the song, which became a defining moment in both their careers.
Timaya also praised BNXN (formerly known as Buju), with whom he collaborated on the 2021 hit single ‘Cold Outside’. He revealed that the song came about organically during a casual conversation. “We were just talking, and I said, ‘It’s so cold outside.’ I went upstairs, and by the time I came back, BNXN had already recorded the song,” Timaya explained, highlighting BNXN’s creative spontaneity and talent.
The Bayelsa-born superstar’s admiration for both Kefee and BNXN showcases their exceptional talent, especially considering Timaya’s respected position in Nigerian mainstream music. His collaborations with these artists have resulted in timeless hits that continue to resonate with fans across the globe.
