In the heat of the summer transfer window, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has once again become the center of attention — but not without a storm of controversy. According to Turkish football expert Zeki Uzundurukan, the Italian press is intentionally spreading misinformation about the Super Eagles star’s next move.
Italian Media Under Fire for False Osimhen Reports
Uzundurukan, a respected football analyst in Turkey, boldly claimed that media outlets in Italy are misleading their audience by suggesting that Osimhen is on the verge of joining Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. He insists these reports are far from the truth.
“The Italian press is making up stories and saying he will go to the Arabs. It is a complete lie,” Zeki told GsGazette. “If Osimhen had gone, he would have gone long ago, and Al Hilal would have raised their offer already.”
Despite receiving a massive €40 million per year offer from Al Hilal — and reportedly an improved follow-up bid — Osimhen has turned both down, according to Pulse Sports. This rejection appears to confirm his reluctance to leave European football just yet.
Galatasaray Still in the Running
On the European front, Turkish giants Galatasaray are quietly pushing for Osimhen’s signature. While the 26-year-old has not officially accepted their offer, reports suggest he is far more receptive to their advances than to those from Saudi Arabia.
Uzundurukan revealed that a promising conversation has already taken place between Osimhen and Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk.
“Osimhen and Okan Buruk have had a phone conversation. It was a very good conversation. Osimhen is already warm to Galatasaray,” Zeki stated.
“They are sorting out the financial issues with Napoli. All three of Galatasaray’s main sponsors are willing to cover a large portion of the transfer fee.”
He added that some “striking developments” in favor of Galatasaray are expected this week — and that Al Hilal may soon pull out of the race altogether.
Champions League Football a Deciding Factor?
One major draw for Osimhen could be Galatasaray’s guaranteed spot in the UEFA Champions League this season. According to Uzundurukan, the prospect of missing out on top-level European football would have likely ruled out the Turkish club’s chances. But with Champions League football secured, the door remains open.
“I think he will stay [in Europe],” Zeki predicted. “I think Osimhen will join the Galatasaray camp and start the new season without missing too much training.”
Still, Galatasaray appears to have a backup plan should the deal fall through. Zeki noted that the club could pivot to fellow Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen.
Final Thoughts
Victor Osimhen’s future remains up in the air, but what’s becoming clear is that not all reports can be trusted. As the tug-of-war between Galatasaray and Al Hilal continues, one thing is certain: Osimhen is not in a rush to trade Europe for the Middle East — no matter what the Italian tabloids say.
Fans and football insiders alike will be watching closely in the coming days to see where one of Africa’s top talents finally lands. Stay tuned.
