Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal continues his impressive rise in the ATP singles rankings, reaching a career-high of 71 on Monday. Just last week, he was ranked 77, but his stellar runner-up performance at the Perugia ATP Challenger tournament propelled him six places up the chart.
The 26-year-old, set to represent India in the men’s singles at the Paris Olympics, has accumulated 777 ATP points, marking a significant milestone in his career. His recent string of impressive performances has not only boosted his ranking but also secured his spot at the Paris Games.
Nagal kicked off the year with a historic run to the second round of the Australian Open. Although he faced an early exit at the French Open, he’s gearing up for the main draw at Wimbledon and the upcoming Paris Olympics at Roland Garros.
Earlier this month, Nagal clinched the men’s singles title at the Heilbronn Neckarcup 2024 Challenger event in Germany, adding to his victory at the Chennai Open in February. As the top-ranked Indian singles player, Nagal has claimed four ATP Challenger titles since 2023, with Heilbronn marking his fourth triumph on clay.
