Simi is known for her soulful music and authentic voice, but behind the scenes, the award-winning singer is refreshingly honest about navigating the spotlight, and why she doesn’t have many friends in the entertainment industry.
In a candid chat with media personality VJ Adams, the singer-songwriter revealed that her introverted personality has made it difficult to build close friendships within the music scene. While she does have industry colleagues she gets along with, Simi explained that her real friendships exist outside of fame.
“My friends in the industry, they’re my guys. But they’re not my friends because they’re in the industry,” she said.
Simi admitted that while she loves music deeply, she often feels like her personality doesn’t quite align with the social and networking demands of the entertainment world.
“I’m really bad at that… I always say I think I have the wrong personality for the industry I have the passion for. I’m only doing music because I like music,” she shared. “There are many things I know how to do, but I feel like my personality is not compatible.”
The singer also noted that networking and building media relationships don’t come naturally to her.
“I’m really not good at networking. The rapport I have with you, I don’t even have with many people in the media. These things don’t come to me naturally, I have to be extra at it.”
Despite her low-key approach to fame, Simi continues to win hearts with her music and down-to-earth personality, proving that staying true to yourself can still take you far, even in an industry built on appearances.
