After much anticipation, Shallipopi finally released his first single of 2025, ‘Laho’, on February 21. The track quickly gained traction, going viral on TikTok after the rapper teased it on social media. However, just a day after its release, fans were left disappointed when the song was unexpectedly removed from Spotify, one of Nigeria’s leading streaming platforms.
Now, after a brief disappearance, ‘Laho’ is officially back on Spotify, much to the relief of his growing fanbase. While Shallipopi has yet to explain the takedown, speculation suggests it could be linked to contractual disputes with his former label, Dapper Music. The rapper had previously left the label under controversial circumstances, citing financial transparency issues, conflicts of interest, and an attempt to bind him to a lifetime contract.
‘Laho’ marks Shallipopi’s first release since his departure from Dapper Music and follows his 2024 single ‘Order’ featuring Olamide. The track is expected to be one of the lead singles from his upcoming 2025 album, which is rumored to feature American rapper Swae Lee.
Beyond new music, 2025 is already shaping up to be a massive year for Shallipopi. The rapper recently secured six nominations at the 17th Headies Awards, including a nod for the Next Rated Prize, solidifying his status as one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising stars.
