Rema walks off stage at Dreamville Festival over sound issues

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema stunned the crowd at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina on Sunday, during his electrifying performance.

During his performance on Day 2 of the festival at Dix Park in Raleigh, Rema, the Nigerian artist, halted his hit song ‘Calm Down’ midway. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the poor sound quality and subsequently left the stage.

“His voice echoed with passion as he championed equal sound quality for African artists on the global stage. He firmly believed that they deserved the same level of recognition and appreciation as their Western counterparts. It was a powerful message that resonated with many, and one that continues to inspire change today.”

He said, “Hold on, there are too many sound issues. It’s messing up my whole performance. I’m seriously not feeling this sh*t.

“I’m representing Africa, this is too messed up. If the sound cannot be perfect for every artist that get on this stage… Africa is in the house and you are messing sh*t up?”

Dreamville Festival was created by American hip-hop superstar, J. Cole.

What are your thoughts on this, do you think it was a deliberate attempt to sabotage his performance?
