Phyna Criticizes Inclusion of Miss SA Finalist Chidinma in Miss Universe Nigeria Pageant.

Controversial reality TV star Josephine Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has expressed her disapproval of Chidinma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina’s inclusion in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant. Adetshina, a model of Nigerian and Mozambican heritage, previously withdrew from the Miss South Africa 2024 contest after facing scrutiny regarding her nationality, despite being a Top 11 Finalist.

Following her withdrawal, Adetshina was invited to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, a decision that has sparked a reaction from Phyna. In a video shared by the organizers on Wednesday, Adetshina announced her decision to compete in the Nigerian beauty contest, further stirring public interest.

Phyna took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to voice her concerns, stating that Adetshina’s participation might jeopardize the chances of “typical Nigerian queens” who have been preparing for the pageant. She advised Adetshina to consider taking a break from pageantry.

Phyna’s post read:

“Just thinking out loud oh. I’m in support of Chidima o, but this one she now wants to rep us like this…. What will now happen to our own typical Nigerian Queens that have been preparing for it too, Omo I for advise her to leave pageant first or for this year… then go next tym.”

Phyna’s remarks have sparked backlash, with many criticizing her viewpoint. The controversy surrounding Adetshina’s participation continues to generate discussion within the beauty pageant community and among fans.
