UK-based Nigerian pastor, Tobi Adegboyega, has opened up about his private battle with cancer, revealing for the first time that he recently underwent major surgery after months of fighting the disease.

In a pre-recorded sermon shared on Thursday, June 6, the founder of the now-defunct SPAC Nation, rebranded as The Nation Family, addressed his congregation with a deeply personal message.
“Yes, you heard me right. I’ve been dealing with cancer for the past few months or even more,” he said, explaining his absence from recent church activities. “I just had a major surgery… but I’ve fought the battle and I feel the verdict to continue life was given to me by God for a new level, for a new stage.”
The emotional announcement marks a turning point for the often controversial preacher, who is known for his luxury lifestyle and youthful, fashion-forward approach to ministry. While his health struggle had been kept private, Pastor Tobi chose to share his story as a testament to faith, survival, and divine purpose.
In addition to the revelation, he announced a £100,000 donation to support cancer awareness and treatment for young people, a cause close to his heart as a youth-focused leader.
Pastor Tobi’s ministry has never been short of headlines. From his bold fashion statements and luxury cars to his outspoken sermons, he has long been a polarising figure, especially in the UK, where his ministry has been scrutinised. In 2022, SPAC Nation was officially shut down by UK authorities over concerns about financial mismanagement.
More recently, in 2024, Pastor Tobi was forced to deny widespread reports of deportation, asserting there was “no deportation order” against him.
Now, his cancer diagnosis adds a new layer to his public journey, one filled with trials, transformation, and resilience.
Whether viewed as a spiritual leader, a symbol of modern Christianity, or a controversial figure, Pastor Tobi’s message is clear: he believes he’s been given a second chance, and he’s ready to step into a new chapter.
