The longstanding tension within P-Square has taken another turn, with Rudeboy (Paul Okoye) asserting ownership over his brother Mr. P’s (Peter Okoye) newly released single, “Winning.” Released on November 8, 2024, as part of a 2-track EP including “Winning” and “Attention,” the song has become the latest focus of a public dispute between the once-iconic duo.
Rudeboy took to Instagram to voice his claim, alleging that “Winning” was originally his creation and was intended for his upcoming solo album. Sharing a demo as evidence, he expressed his frustration over what he perceived as an intellectual overstep by Mr. P. He stated, “NOW HOW COME? NOW AM I SUPPOSED TO RELEASE ANOTHER VERSION?” and went on to detail the song’s backstory, asserting that he had included it among six tracks he contributed for a canceled P-Square reunion project.
In his post, Rudeboy accused unnamed parties of manipulation and insisted that he would publicly release demo versions of any songs he wrote. This dispute has placed “Winning,” a track seemingly meant to inspire unity, at the center of renewed tensions between the brothers.
Mr. P has yet to respond publicly to these allegations. The recent dispute echoes the long-standing conflict between the brothers, dating back nearly a decade. Earlier in 2024, they revisited a dispute involving their older brother and former manager Jude Okoye regarding alleged mismanagement of funds, which became another widely publicized family disagreement.
As fans and industry stakeholders continue to urge reconciliation, the rift between P-Square remains a topic of both concern and fascination in the music industry.
