Grammy-nominated rapper Olamide has thrilled fans with the announcement of an upcoming project, sparking excitement across social media. The multi-award-winning artist revealed plans to release the second installment of his EP, Ikigai, in response to a fan’s comment on his recent freestyle, Idan Buruku.
In a post on his X account, Olamide responded to a fan who felt the freestyle was too short, saying, “You’d have to wait for Ikigai vol. 2 almost here.”

The first volume of Ikigai—a Japanese term meaning “a reason to live”—was a success, featuring standout tracks like Metaverse, Habibi, and Uptown Disco, which included collaborations with Asake and Fireboy. The EP showcased Olamide’s ability to evolve while staying in tune with the pulse of contemporary culture.
In addition to releasing Ikigai in 2024, Olamide made waves with high-profile guest appearances on tracks with artists such as Shallipopi, Zlatan, Khaid, Alpha P, Gimba, and Antiworld Gangsters.
Olamide’s illustrious career spans over a decade, during which he has cemented his position as one of the greatest Nigerian musicians of the 21st century. Beyond his achievements as a hitmaker, he is the mastermind behind YBNL, the label responsible for launching stars like Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Fireboy, and Asake.
With the release of Ikigai Vol. 2 on the horizon, Olamide is poised to once again redefine his legacy and solidify his influence in the music industry. Fans are eagerly awaiting what promises to be another stellar chapter in the rapper’s illustrious career.
