Ahead of the summer transfer window, clubs receive a significant boost with news from Soccer Luduma reporting that Nigeria’s Stanley Nwabali is poised to become a free agent, declining a new contract with Chippa United.
With less than three months remaining on his current deal, the 27-year-old goalkeeper will be free to move on at the end of the season, marking the conclusion of his second year with Chippa United since joining in October 2022 from Katsina United in the Nigerian Premier Football League.
Despite limited popularity in Nigeria before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Nwabali’s standout performances during the tournament elevated his status, attracting interest from clubs like Queens Park Rangers, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, El-Ettifaq, and Kaiser Chiefs.
While Nwabali has not confirmed receiving direct offers, he remains open to potential moves, signaling a possible shift to Europe as he declines contract extension talks with Chippa United. In response, the club is eyeing Ghana’s Richard Ofori from Orlando Pirates as a prospective replacement, given his contract status at the end of the season.
