Simi Announces Fifth Studio Album “Lost and Found”

Kenyan youths are demonstrating against the tax hike in widespread protests under the banner ‘RejectFinanceBill2024.’ According to Amnesty Kenya, five people were shot dead and dozens were wounded after police clashed with protesters who stormed the parliament building in Nairobi on Tuesday.

Reacting on her X handle on Tuesday night, Simi expressed her solidarity with the demonstrators:

“I stand with the people of Kenya. It is both powerful and heartbreaking for a people to have to fight and die for freedoms and rights. Godspeed and Strength. #RejectFinanceBill2024.”

In a series of other posts, she further commented on the situation:

“Wow. When you’ve had enough, the fight is almost inevitable.”

“African leaders – haven’t you done enough?”

“I can’t wait for the day Africa is not a weapon fashioned against Africans. All of this amazing Black power and human resource, but the majority are not likely to thrive unless they run.”

Through her statements, Simi underscored the resilience and determination of the Kenyan protesters while also criticizing African leaders and expressing hope for a future where African people can thrive without having to leave their homeland.
