Nigerian Artists Shine in the U.S.: CKay, Wizkid, and Rema Lead RIAA Digital Sales Rankings

Nigerian Artists Achieving RIAA Gold Certifications

The global rise of Afrobeats has been marked by significant achievements, particularly in the United States, where Nigerian artists have reached impressive sales milestones. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the top three bestselling Nigerian artists in the U.S. by digital single sales are:

  1. CKay – 8 million units sold
  2. Wizkid – 6.5 million units sold
  3. Rema – 5 million units sold

CKay leads the pack, largely due to the massive success of his hit single “Love Nwantiti,” which became a global sensation, topping charts and earning multi-platinum certifications. Wizkid follows closely, with his international collaborations and solo projects contributing to his substantial sales figures. Rema, the youngest among the trio, has quickly risen in the ranks with his unique sound and hit tracks that have garnered significant streaming numbers and sales.

These milestones not only highlight the individual talents of these artists but also underscore the growing influence and acceptance of Nigerian music on the global stage. The U.S. market, in particular, has become increasingly receptive to Afrobeats, with Nigerian artists achieving unprecedented success and recognition.

As the genre continues to evolve and gain popularity, it is expected that more Nigerian artists will reach and surpass these milestones, further solidifying the global presence of Afrobeats.
