Afrobeats star Mayorkun has officially released his highly anticipated third studio album, titled Still The Mayor, marking a decade of consistent hits and musical evolution. The 12-track project, which arrived on June 13, 2025, sees the singer reaffirm his place among the genre’s elite.

Packed with notable collaborations, Still The Mayor features Davido, Fireboy DML, Ghanaian stars King Promise and Olivetheboy, American-Nigerian singer and actor Rotimi, and rappers Dremo and Michii.
The album follows the success of his 2023 EP Love For Free, which birthed fan favorites like “For Daddy” and “Low Key”. It also builds on the legacy of his previous full-length projects, Back In Office (2021), which delivered the Victony-assisted hit “Holy Father”, and his breakout debut The Mayor of Lagos (2018), which gave us classics like “Bobo”, “Mama”, and “Che Che”.
One of the album’s standout pre-releases is “Reason 2 Japa”, a reflective track dropped in April 2025. On it, Mayorkun tackles the pressing socioeconomic issues driving Nigeria’s youth to emigrate, commonly referred to as the “Japa” wave. Over infectious Amapiano log drums, he delivers biting commentary with the line, “Tell me the reason not to Japa.”
The song has resonated deeply, capturing the mood of a generation grappling with insecurity, inflation, and a lack of opportunities in a country where dreams often get buried by bureaucracy and corruption.
With Still The Mayor, Mayorkun blends introspection with party-ready anthems, delivering the kind of witty songwriting and catchy melodies fans have come to expect from one of Afrobeats’ most dependable voices.
As he enters the next phase of his career, Still The Mayor isn’t just an album, it’s a statement. Mayorkun remains a hitmaker, a storyteller, and a voice of the times.
