The Police Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has strongly criticized rising singer Ayo Maff for the “indecent” lyrics in his new song ‘Last Week.’
In the song’s opening verse, Ayo Maff boasts about using Canadian Loud, a potent synthetic strain of cannabis, on the first day of the week and contacting his dealer for more on Saturday.
Reacting to a viral snippet of the song on X, SP Hundeyin expressed his concern about the impact of such lyrics.
“He does what on Mondays and Saturdays? Help me listen. Like Asa said, there is fire on the mountain and nobody seems to be on the run…”
He emphasized the connection between drug abuse and crime, noting the significant impact of illicit drugs on youth incarceration.
“Fact: Half of the young ones in prison today wouldn’t be there if they didn’t do drugs. Drugs is a precursor to everything bad. Eni a wi fun…”
SP Hundeyin’s remarks highlight the ongoing issue of drug abuse and its repercussions among young people, urging for greater awareness and responsibility in musical content.
