The Lagos State government has announced that the toxicology report on the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad, has been released. The report, which was conducted in the United States, was confirmed by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro SAN, during a press briefing on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Delayed Investigation Explained
Addressing the media at the Ministry of Justice in Ikeja, Pedro acknowledged the delays in investigating the singer’s death but assured the public that it was due to the time needed for comprehensive forensic analysis. He explained that the toxicology report, alongside the autopsy results, is now with the Lagos State Pathologist and Coroner.
Pedro emphasized that Mohbad’s family had expressed interest in conducting an independent autopsy, which had contributed to the delays. However, despite this, Pedro assured the press that the trial would commence soon, aiming to bring those responsible for Mohbad’s death to justice.
