Afropop star Kizz Daniel has responded to the ongoing rivalry between Afrobeats icons Davido and Wizkid in a recent social media interaction. Known for his hit singles and recent collaborations, Daniel was approached by a fan on X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts on Wizkid, spurred by his recent work with Davido.
The conversation kicked off when Kizz Daniel posted his admiration for rapper Phyno. A user responded with a critical remark, leading to a social media back-and-forth, in which Kizz Daniel quickly clarified his stance. Another fan then challenged him to take a side and “diss” Wizkid, an invitation Kizz Daniel gracefully declined.
Instead of fueling fan-driven rivalries, Kizz Daniel expressed his respect for both Davido and Wizkid, highlighting their influence on the industry. He responded, “I bet 30BG will love this. Na machala and baddest workings most of us dey enjoy now, it will be unwise my brother. Respect the ones before you.”
Kizz Daniel’s comments show his regard for Afrobeats’ pioneers, especially as he praised music legends Olamide, Don Jazzy, and Phyno, calling them “godfathers of the new generation.” He wrote, “That’s the Godfather of the New industry along side Don Jazzy and Phyno … story for another day.”
