After a successful 2024, Nigerian hitmaker Joeboy is kicking off 2025 with a brand-new single, ‘SMH’, produced by his longtime collaborator Tempoe.
The track arrives as one of Joeboy’s most ambitious releases yet, incorporating a sample from ‘Neela Nilave’, a Tamil song from the album Mandhera Vasal, layered over intricate beats and wispy production. Known for their past hits like ‘Sip (Alcohol)’ and ‘Don’t Call Me Back’, Joeboy and Tempoe once again deliver a sonically rich experience.
On ‘SMH’, Joeboy enters a contemplative space, using his signature soulful vocals to address the challenges of a failing relationship.
“There’s a certain clarity of mind that hits you when you finally understand that not all relationships are supposed to last forever. Some are better as phases with lessons to learn,” Joeboy shared about the song’s meaning.
The single also marks a milestone for Young Legend, Joeboy’s record label, which recently celebrated its first anniversary.
With ‘SMH’, Joeboy continues to establish himself as both an artist and an entrepreneur, reinforcing his reputation on the global stage. The track also sets the stage for his highly anticipated third studio album, ‘Lavida Boy‘, expected later this year.
Beyond music, Joeboy has also launched a foundation focused on assisting underserved communities, signaling an eventful year ahead for the star.
