Nigerian singer and songwriter Victony is entering a new chapter, and it’s one marked by discipline, clarity, and a deeper connection with his craft. As he continues his European “Stubborn Tour,” the 23-year-old star has revealed that he’s attempting to perform completely sober for the first time in his career.
In a candid conversation on Behind the Prestige, the Soweto hitmaker admitted that alcohol had long been part of his pre-show ritual, a habit he’s now actively breaking.
“For the longest, I’ve never been on stage without taking any drinks,” Victony shared. “But I’m trying to see my fans with my eyes, and connect with them. I believe I can do it, and perform even better than I did when I was drinking.”
In addition to stepping away from alcohol, Victony also revealed he has quit smoking weed and is embracing a healthier lifestyle.
“Keeping fit is a new habit for me, I’ve been on it for almost two months now, and it’s been good, I won’t lie. Yes, it’s a bit boring, but I haven’t smoked weed in a while, I’m also trying to stay off alcohol. I’m trying to do this tour sober, and it’s a big challenge.”
This transformation comes at a pivotal moment in his career. Victony is currently on tour in support of his album “Stubborn,” performing across major European cities including London, Paris, Berlin, and more.
Known for his emotionally rich lyrics and genre-bending sound, Victony is now taking steps to match the energy of his music with a lifestyle rooted in mindfulness and self-improvement. The decision to go sober on tour isn’t just a personal milestone, it’s a bold move toward artistic and emotional growth.
As his fan base continues to grow worldwide, Victony is proving that greatness isn’t just about talent, it’s about transformation, intention, and showing up fully as yourself.
