Popular content creator and livestream host, Peller, was left heartbroken and in tears during a recent broadcast after claiming that the organisers of the 2025 Headies Awards pulled out of a livestream collaboration with him at the very last minute.
During a now-viral livestream on April 27, 2025, Peller emotionally recounted how the award show’s team initially invited him to livestream the prestigious event but later revoked the offer, despite his public promotions and significant preparations.
“I had told lots of people, I put it on my channels and everywhere,” Peller said through tears. “Now people are talking to me anyhow and saying my glory isn’t enough for the Headies. I’m not happy about this at all.”
“They Came to Me First”
According to the content creator, the Headies team had first approached him with the invitation to livestream the ceremony. He said he agreed in good faith and began preparing, only to be hit with sudden restrictions and a complete shutdown of communication on the day of the event.
“The people behind it stopped replying. They were the ones who came to me with the idea to livestream the Headies. Then on the day of the event, they started giving me terms and conditions.”
He went on to stress that he had no commercial interest in the stream and only wanted to be part of the event for the experience.
“I didn’t plan to monetise the stream. I just wanted to be there, interview people on the red carpet. It wasn’t about money. Let others live their dreams too.”
“You Must Pay Me Back”
Peller’s frustration soon turned to anger as he demanded compensation for the money he claimed to have spent preparing for the event.
“Headies has to pay for this! All the money I spent on preparations, you people would pay me back. You think this is a small thing?”
He also referenced what he saw as favoritism during the event, pointing to a moment where Tems’ mother presented her daughter with an award, implying the show was more concerned with sentiment than transparency or fairness.
