“I Never Stopped Believing” – Yemi Alade on Her Grammy Nomination

Yemi Alade is celebrating a major career milestone as she reflects on her first-ever Grammy nomination, crediting her success to resilience and self-belief.

After more than a decade in the Nigerian music industry, Yemi Alade earned a nomination at the 67th Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance, joining other Nigerian stars in the prestigious category.

Taking to social media, she shared an inspiring message:

“I’m a winner. I’m here because I didn’t stop believing, and even when doubt and nay-sayers counted me out, I always COUNTED MYSELF IN and surrounded myself with uplifters and truth-tellers (not yes men). Na who stop, e go stop for. Don’t stop dreaming, NOBODY KNOWS TOMORROW!”

Yemi Alade’s nomination, which came as a surprise to many, is a testament to her talent, hard work, and commitment to making music that celebrates Africa’s rich culture and traditional sounds.

Since breaking into the industry with her 2013 hit single ‘Johnny’, she has become one of Nigeria’s most dynamic performers and a key figure in Afrobeats’ global expansion. Her contributions have earned her multiple awards, including Best Female Artist at the MAMA Awards in 2014 and 2015.

Her Grammy-nominated single ‘Tomorrow’ marks another significant moment in her career. While the award ultimately went to Tems, who continues to push boundaries with her music, Yemi Alade’s recognition on the Grammy stage is a defining moment.

At the event, she dazzled in a beaded dress inspired by Edo culture, earning praise for proudly representing Nigerian heritage on a global platform.
