Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has finally addressed the defamation allegations leveled against him by social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM). The case stems from claims made by VDM in a viral video where he accused Falz and his father, Femi Falana SAN, of helping Bobrisky get money laundering charges dropped.
In a recent episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, Falz broke his silence, revealing details of his interaction with VDM. According to Falz, he initially reached out to VDM in an attempt to resolve the issue peacefully but was met with hostility.
“This guy was defensive right from the start,” Falz explained. “I was like, bro, try to listen first, but he immediately started fighting back. He even told me, ‘Shebi you’re a lawyer; go to court.'”
Falz went on to clarify that he could have pursued criminal defamation charges, which could have led to VDM’s arrest. However, he opted for a more measured approach, asking VDM to take down the video and issue a public apology. Despite the request, VDM took no action.
The rapper emphasized that he didn’t seek conflict but couldn’t ignore the attack on his family’s integrity, especially his father, a well-known human rights lawyer. “I don’t go looking for trouble, but when you trample on everything my father stands for—fighting for the oppressed—you can’t expect me to stay silent,” Falz asserted.

“If you say you’re looking for trouble, trouble is my work. So, if that’s what you want, let’s go,” he concluded, standing firm on his position.
This public feud started on September 24, 2024, when VDM shared a voice recording allegedly from Bobrisky, claiming that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and his son helped him avoid prison time. The situation has since escalated, with Falz now making it clear that he’s ready to defend his name and that of his family.
