In a recent interview with Hip TV, Mr. Collins Enebeli Ajereh, father of Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy, shared his thoughts on Wizkid’s controversial comment calling his son an “influencer”.
When asked about the situation, Mr. Ajereh, fondly called “Mavins Grandpa”, downplayed the issue, stating that everyone is entitled to their opinion and it shouldn’t be blown out of proportion.
“I don’t see why people make anything spectacular out of it. Whoever said what they said depends on the circumstance, and I wouldn’t want that to be an issue of controversy,” he said.
Mr. Ajereh further emphasized that “there’s no love lost” and refused to give it more attention than necessary.
This comes after Wizkid’s comment in May, where he referred to Don Jazzy as an “influencer” while responding to a fan’s question about Ladipoe’s alleged dig at him. Wizkid’s statement sparked reactions from fans and critics, who argued that Don Jazzy’s legacy in Nigerian music is far more significant than just an influencer.

Despite the controversy, Don Jazzy seems to have taken the comment in stride, even thanking Wizkid on social media after he posted the streaming link to his signee Ayra Starr’s album.
