Dele Momodu, a renowned Nigerian journalist and uncle to Sophia Momodu, has shared the court’s stance on the ongoing custody battle between singer Davido and his baby mama, Sophia.
In a post on his official social media accounts, Dele Momodu disclosed that the court has referred the case for possible settlement through alternative dispute resolution (ADR) during Settlement Week. He strongly advised both Davido and Sophia to genuinely engage with the ADR process rather than making harmful and irreversible statements on social media, which violate the law and harm their child’s interests.
“The court yesterday referred the case for possible settlement by the alternative dispute resolution, ADR, a section of the court during Settlement Week & I strongly advise that David and Sophia should engage truly with the process as opposed to making harmful and irreversible statements on social media which not only violate the law but the interest of their child,” he wrote.
Dele emphasized the importance of establishing a proper structure for their daughter’s welfare and taking the issue off social media. He mentioned his efforts over the past nine years to ensure amicable resolutions of disputes and the necessity of creating a structured, safe, and sustainable way for the father and child to interact.
“The vitriolic rhetoric in the media should be avoided by all means as this only further inflames what is already a traumatic experience for all parties involved, especially the child in question,” he added.
