D’banj Hints at Reunion with Don Jazzy: ‘There’s No Better Time Than Now’

Afrobeats legend D’banj has teased a long-awaited reunion with Don Jazzy, sending fans into a frenzy of anticipation.

D’banj on Reuniting with Don Jazzy

Speaking in a recent interview with Punch Newspaper’s Saturday Beats, the iconic singer addressed the possibility of working with his former Mo’Hits collaborator, Don Jazzy. The duo, once at the forefront of Nigeria’s music scene, parted ways in 2012, leading to the birth of Mavin Records and D’banj’s solo career.

When asked whether fans can expect a collaboration, D’banj confidently stated:

“The trailer of my album last year had Don Jazzy in it. We know that people want this, and we are going to give them that. But it has to be at the right time. And there’s no better time than now. You’re going to see a lot, not just from Nigeria but globally. It’s not just about a Mo’Hits reunion, but about celebrating Afrobeats as well.”

D’banj’s Latest Moves: Supporting Rising Talent

Beyond hinting at a reunion, D’banj spoke about his latest projects, including his efforts to uplift young talents through his CREAM platform. Recently, he signed comedian-turned-musician Nasboi and singer Berri Tiga as brand ambassadors.

Explaining why he chose Nasboi, he said:

“Nasboi is a perfect example of what the platform stands for. He started as a musician back in 2008 but never got his big break. He then evolved into a comedian and skit maker, built a name for himself, and now he’s back to his first love—music. That’s exactly what the CREAM platform represents: a space for discovering and harnessing talent.”

On Berri Tiga, D’banj highlighted how the young singer has grown within the platform:

“Berri Tiga uploaded his song on the platform when he was just 17 years old. Now, he’s one of our biggest success stories.”

New Music Incoming: Deluxe Album on the Way

D’banj also revealed plans to drop a deluxe version of his 2024 album, responding to fans’ demands for remixes of his classic hits.

“I am so grateful to my fans for accepting my last album. Many have requested remixes of my old songs, and I will be selecting some emerging talents from the CREAM platform to work on this project.”

With talks of a Don Jazzy reunion, the rise of fresh talent under his wing, and new music on the horizon, D’banj is proving once again why he remains a major force in Afrobeats.
