Davido “Celebrates” as Wizkid Fails to Break His Spotify Record

Davido Celebrates Chris Brown and Tems on Their Grammy Wins

Afrobeats superstar Davido has taken pride in maintaining his record on Spotify, declaring himself as “the only” artist to occupy the top 16 spots on the Spotify Nigeria Daily Top Songs Chart for two consecutive days.

This comes after his colleague Wizkid’s new album, Morayo, broke several streaming records but fell short of surpassing Davido’s milestone set by his album Timeless.

Record-Breaking Milestone

Davido’s record was first established last year when all tracks from Timeless dominated the top 16 spots on Spotify Nigeria for two straight days. Despite the strong debut of Wizkid’s Morayo, it failed to match this feat.

A music-monitoring platform, The Data Dash, highlighted the achievement on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

“@davido remains the only artist to occupy the Top 16 spots on the Spotify Nigeria Daily Top Songs Chart for 2 consecutive days, with all new songs from his album ‘Timeless’.”

Davido’s Reaction

The Unavailable hitmaker, known for his confidence and competitive spirit, proudly reshared the post, adding:

“Remains the only!”

Fan Reactions

Fans of both artists have since taken to social media to debate the significance of the record, with many praising Davido for his continued dominance in the music industry. Others argue that Wizkid’s Morayo still achieved massive success, showcasing the healthy rivalry between the two Afrobeats heavyweights.

This moment underscores the global spotlight on Nigerian music, with both artists contributing immensely to the genre’s worldwide popularity.
