Afrobeats superstar Davido has finally opened up about his past friendship with infamous internet fraudster Ramon “Hushpuppi” Abbas, saying he had no idea about the true source of the socialite’s wealth.
“Hushpuppi lived life, he’s my friend. Some people are happy to ball for 5 years & that's it. My prayers go out to him. He's coming out soon”

In a recent interview, Davido addressed the speculation that has long surrounded their connection, clarifying that while they were friendly, he was unaware of the criminal activities that ultimately landed Hushpuppi an 11-year prison sentence in the U.S.
“My prayers go out to him, he’s my friend,” Davido said. “I just used to see him around. I never really knew what he was doing. But he lived a good life.”
Hushpuppi, once a social media sensation known for flaunting designer clothes, luxury cars, and extravagant trips, was arrested in 2020 for his role in an international cybercrime network. His high-profile lifestyle and celebrity associations made headlines around the world, and raised eyebrows.
Reflecting on the situation, Davido noted how some people are willing to live large for a few years, even if it comes at the cost of their freedom later. It’s a sobering reminder of the blurred lines between fame, wealth, and the truth behind the scenes.
Before his arrest, Hushpuppi was often spotted rubbing shoulders with celebrities at high-end parties and events, including several occasions where he was seen with Davido.
Now, with the air cleared, Davido seems focused on moving forward, with his music, his legacy, and a deeper awareness of the company he keeps.
