Dammy Krane Sparks Drama by Naming His Album ‘5ive’, Same Title and Release Date as Davido

It looks like the long-standing tension between Dammy Krane and Davido just took another dramatic turn.

In a bold move that’s raising eyebrows across the music scene, Dammy Krane has announced that his upcoming album will be titled 5ive, the exact same title as Davido’s much-anticipated project. But that’s not all. He also picked April 18 as his release date… the very same day Davido is set to drop his album.

Coincidence? Probably not.

Fans of Nigerian music will recall that the relationship between the two artists has been rocky for years. Once collaborators and friends, things turned sour after Dammy Krane accused Davido of owing him royalties from a past collaboration. Since then, Krane has taken several jabs at the Afrobeats superstar on social media, even going as far as making serious (and later retracted) allegations that led to his arrest in 2024.

Although he later apologized and was released, the damage to their friendship was already done.

Davido, on his part, hasn’t stayed silent. He’s called out Dammy Krane publicly, branding him as ungrateful and pointing out that he gave Krane three free verses to help boost his career.

Now, with both artists releasing albums titled 5ive on the same day, fans can’t help but see Dammy Krane’s move as a calculated effort to ride on Davido’s spotlight. While Davido has already shared the meaning behind his album title, Krane hasn’t provided any insight, further fueling speculation that it’s more about stirring the pot than creative inspiration.

Is this just another publicity stunt or a serious attempt at reclaiming relevance? Either way, April 18 is shaping up to be a spicy day in the Nigerian music scene.

Stay tuned.
