A Lagos court has acquitted Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Primeboy, and MohBad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde, in the ongoing investigation into the singer’s death.
On February 25, 2025, the Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, delivered its ruling based on legal advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje read and implemented the decision, officially clearing the four individuals of any involvement in the case.
However, the DPP has ruled that Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who administered a series of injections on MohBad, and Ayobami Sadiq, a friend of the late singer, will face trial for reckless and negligent acts under Section 251 (e) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015. They will be prosecuted at the Magistrate Court.
Naira Marley’s Libel Case Against Iyabo Ojo
Meanwhile, Naira Marley has taken legal action against actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo, accusing her of libel and demanding ₦500 million in damages along with a public apology.
In a letter dated December 12, 2023, his legal team cited statements made by Ojo in September, alleging they were malicious and had significantly damaged his reputation. The lawyers also claimed that Ojo’s remarks led the public to believe that Naira Marley was involved in MohBad’s death.
It’s worth recalling that in November 2023, the Yaba Magistrate Court had granted Naira Marley and Sam Larry bail, months after they were initially detained in connection with the case.
