Court Approves Second Autopsy for Late Singer Mohbad

The Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State has authorized the family of the late singer Mohbad to conduct a second autopsy.

The family had previously expressed dissatisfaction with the initial autopsy results, which were considered inconclusive. The 27-year-old singer, who passed away under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, was buried the following day.

In response to public calls to determine the cause of his death, Mohbad’s body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy conducted by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). However, the family rejected the results, citing the failure to identify the cause of death. They requested that an independent toxicology report be submitted to the court before the final report is handed over to the authorities.

During a hearing on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, the Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court granted Mohbad’s family and their legal representatives permission to proceed with a second autopsy.
