Chicago’s own Lil Durk, celebrated for his influence in the rap scene and recently honored with the Keys to Broadview and Bellwood, now finds himself entangled in serious legal troubles. The rapper, who was taken into custody on October 24, 2024, faces charges related to an alleged murder-for-hire plot tied to the fatal shooting of rapper Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.
According to the indictment, Lil Durk, along with five alleged members of his Only The Family (OTF) crew, faces charges of orchestrating and executing the plan, reportedly in retaliation for the 2020 killing of rapper King Von, Durk’s close friend and OTF associate. Sources claim that following Von’s death, an unnamed OTF member allegedly offered both money and music-related opportunities to individuals willing to eliminate Quando Rondo, born Terrell Bowman.
The tragic incident occurred in August 2022 at a gas station in West Hollywood, where Quando Rondo, along with his sister and cousin Robinson, came under gunfire. While Rondo and his sister escaped unscathed, Robinson, only 24, was hit multiple times and later pronounced dead.
The charges Lil Durk now faces are severe, including murder-for-hire and the use of a deadly weapon. If convicted, he and his co-defendants could be sentenced to life in prison or potentially the death penalty, underscoring the weight of the case. This high-profile arrest places Lil Durk alongside fellow Atlanta rapper Young Thug, who is also embroiled in a criminal case for alleged RICO violations.
Lil Durk’s legal predicament has reignited conversations about gang affiliations and their lasting impact on hip-hop’s leading names.
