Burna Boy Tops Spotify’s Most Streamed African Artists Globally in 2024

Spotify’s 2024 rankings of the most-streamed African artists globally highlight the incredible year African musicians have had, with Nigerian acts dominating the list and South Africa and Algeria represented as well.

Leading the pack is Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, who takes the top spot as the most-streamed African artist globally in 2024. Known for his groundbreaking hits and Grammy-winning albums, Burna Boy’s appeal continues to transcend borders, solidifying his status as an international music icon.

South Africa’s breakout star Tyla follows at number two. Her self-titled debut album, Tyla, has captivated audiences worldwide, marking her as one of the leading voices in African pop.

Ayra Starr, another standout Nigerian star, secures the third position. The Sability crooner has had a remarkable year, earning her spot with a string of chart-topping singles and a massive global fan base.

Rema, who has consistently been at the forefront of Afrobeats, ranks fourth. His Rave & Roses deluxe album and ongoing global success with hits like Calm Down have kept him in the spotlight.

Tems rounds out the top five, continuing her rise as a global sensation. Her debut album Born In The Wild has been widely celebrated, earning critical acclaim and Grammy nominations.

The list also features Asake at number six, Omah Lay at seven, and Wizkid at eight. Each of these artists has contributed significantly to the global popularity of African music, with hit songs and sold-out tours.

Davido, a pioneer of Afrobeats, takes the ninth spot, while Algerian artist Soolking closes the list at number ten, showcasing the diversity of African music across the continent.
