Burna Boy Crowned as the Most Streamed Nigerian Artist on Apple Music

Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy has officially claimed the title of the most streamed Nigerian artist on Apple Music, leading the list of top Nigerian musicians on the platform. This announcement comes in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, as Apple Music released a special list honoring the country’s biggest artists, albums, and songs.

The ranking, which features the top 10 most streamed Nigerian artists of all time, highlights Burna Boy’s monumental rise to global stardom, particularly after his 2018 hit single “YE” cemented his place on the international stage. Other notable names include Wizkid in second place, Davido at third, with Rema and Asake rounding out the top five.

Notably, Tems stands as the only female artist on the list, having gained international fame with her captivating sound that has resonated with listeners worldwide.

Here’s the full list of the top 10 most streamed Nigerian artists on Apple Music:

In addition to this, Apple Music has launched Oshe Naija, a month-long initiative that celebrates the rich and diverse soundscape of Nigerian music. The initiative will feature eight curated playlists, each created by top Nigerian artists representing different regions. These artists include Afro-fusion star Omah Lay (Port Harcourt), hip-hop sensation ODUMODUBLVCK (Abuja), rising rapper Shallipopi (Benin City), genre-blending artist Seyi Vibez (Lagos), Afro-pop legend 2Baba (Jos), and others.

As Nigerian music continues to captivate global audiences, this recognition of Burna Boy and other trailblazers highlights the immense cultural impact of Afrobeat and the evolution of Nigeria’s music industry on the world stage.
