The controversial cross-dresser and social media celebrity Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Justice Abimbola Awogboro has sentenced the offender to six months imprisonment without the option of a fine.
The controversial celebrity has been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since his arrest last week.
He was arrested by the EFCC for abusing the local currency.
On April 5, Bobrisky pleaded guilty to four counts of misusing Naira, as charged by the anti-graft agency.
Justice Awogboro delivered a judgment on Friday and stated that the act of mutilating the Naira notes has become a menace that damages the image of the country.
“Enough of people mutilating and tampering with our currencies. It has to stop. His will serve as a deterrent to others,” the judge added.
Justice Awoghoro subsequently sentenced Bobrisky to six months imprisonment, without an option of fine.
The prison term will start counting from the date of his remand.
Online Trolling and Speculation
In the wake of Bobrisky’s sentencing, online forums and social media platforms have been flooded with speculation and conjecture about his fate behind bars. Of particular interest is the question of how a transgender individual like Bobrisky would fare in a male prison environment, with many users engaging in morbid speculation about his safety and well-being. The mention of Ikoyi Prison, a notorious correctional facility in Lagos, adds a layer of intrigue and concern to the discourse, amplifying fears about potential risks and dangers faced by Bobrisky during his incarceration.
