Emiliano Martinez, Aston Villa’s goalkeeper, will sit out the first leg of his team’s Europa Conference League semi-final clash against Olympiakos due to suspension.
UEFA announced the suspension on Friday, citing Martinez’s accumulation of three yellow cards during Villa’s quarter-final tie against Lille. Villa secured their spot in the semi-finals with a thrilling penalty shoot-out victory over Lille on Thursday, following a 3-3 aggregate draw.
The Argentine goalkeeper was cautioned in both legs of the quarter-final, as well as during the penalty shoot-out.
