Ayra Starr continues her global rise as her hit single ‘Rush’ has officially been certified platinum in the United Kingdom, adding another remarkable accolade to her already stellar career.
Originally released in September 2022, ‘Rush’ has become a defining track in the Afrobeats genre, gaining international recognition and commercial success. The record made Ayra Starr the first Nigerian female artist to debut a solo track on the UK Official Top 100, and now, its platinum certification further cements her place on the global stage.

This new feat adds to the song’s growing list of accolades, including a Diamond certification in France, a rare accomplishment for an Afrobeats artist and a historic moment for Nigerian music.
The year 2025 has already been a massive one for the Grammy-nominated singer. She recently made a stunning appearance at the MET Gala, showcasing her rising status in global pop culture.
Ayra also dropped her latest single ‘Gimme Dat’ featuring Wizkid on April 25, a record that samples Wyclef Jean’s classics ‘Diallo’ and ‘911’ featuring Mary J. Blige. The track marks her second collaboration with Wizkid, following her feature on ‘2 Sugar’ from his album More Love, Less Ego.
‘Gimme Dat’ also appears on her sophomore album ‘The Year I Turned 21’, which has been met with both critical and commercial acclaim. The project features standout collaborations, including ‘Woman Commando’ with Coco Jones and Aniita, and fan-favorite ‘Commas’.
Ayra Starr’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Her appearance on Rvssian’s global hit ‘Santa’ helped lead a wave of Nigerian songs connecting with worldwide audiences. Earlier in 2025, she made history with a MOBO Award win, and she added to her Headies haul by taking home Best R&B Single for ‘Last Heartbreak Song’ featuring Giveon.
With her latest UK platinum plaque, Ayra Starr continues to break barriers and redefine what’s possible for African artists on the global scene.
