Asake Teams Up with Travis Scott for New Single ‘Active’ Ahead of New Album Release

Asake teams up with Travis Scott for new single 'Active'

Nigerian international superstar Asake has once again proven why he’s one of Afrobeats’ most reliable hitmakers. In anticipation of his third album, ‘Lungu Boy,’ Asake has dropped a new single, ‘Active,’ featuring American rapper and producer Travis Scott.

Released on August 7, ‘Active’ blends era-defining Amapiano log drum with dance elements, creating an up-tempo, party-starting record. The single also samples Adewale Ayuba’s chorus from ‘Raise The Roof,’ his hit collaboration with Jazzman Olofin.

Asake has revealed the tracklist for ‘Lungu Boy,’ which includes guest appearances from Wizkid, Central Cee, Stormzy, and Ludmina. Earlier in 2024, Asake released ‘Only Me’ and ‘Wave’ featuring Central Cee, both of which will be on the new album.

The release of ‘Lungu Boy’ precedes Asake’s upcoming tour, which will include stops at the famous O2 Arena, where he previously headlined in 2023, and the iconic Madison Square Garden, making him only the fourth Nigerian artist to headline the venue.

Asake’s rapid ascension in the music industry is marked by his breathless run of hits over the past three years. His debut album, ‘Mr. Money With The Vibes,’ won the Album of the Year at the 2023 Headies Awards. His second album, ‘Work of Art,’ featured the hit single ‘Lonely At The Top,’ which set the record for the longest-charting song on the TurnTable Top 100.

With ‘Active’ setting the stage, fans eagerly await the release of ‘Lungu Boy,’ poised to be another milestone in Asake’s stellar career.
