Asake Joins Davido and Wizkid in O2 Arena History with Another Sell-Out Show

Asake’s Lungu Boy Wins Album of the Year at the Culbeed Afrobeat Music Awards 2024

On September 22, 2024, Asake solidified his place among Afrobeats royalty by selling out the O2 Arena for the second time. The milestone came as part of his world tour following the release of his third album, ‘Lungu Boy.’

The star-studded concert saw Asake deliver electrifying performances of hit singles from ‘Lungu Boy’ and his previous chart-topping tracks. Among the notable attendees were Grammy-winner Wizkid and British actor Idris Elba, who presented Asake with both a sold-out plaque and a BRIT silver plaque for his album ‘Work of Art.’

With his latest O2 Arena sell-out, Asake joins the exclusive club of Nigerian Afrobeats superstars, Davido and Wizkid, who have each sold out the iconic 20,000-capacity venue multiple times.

Asake first made history at the O2 in 2023, following the release of his sophomore album ‘Work of Art,’ marking his rise to international prominence. The O2 Arena, a symbol of Afrobeats’ global breakthrough, previously saw Davido become the first Nigerian solo artist to headline the venue in 2018, while Wizkid made history in 2021 with three consecutive sold-out shows.

Asake’s back-to-back O2 successes further highlight Afrobeats’ global dominance, showcasing the genre’s growing influence across the world.
