AMVCA 2025: “Seven Doors” and “Lisabi” Dominate, Industry Legends Honoured


The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) held on May 10, 2025, was nothing short of dazzling. With stars gliding across the red carpet and emotional acceptance speeches echoing through the night, it was a celebration of not only Nollywood’s brightest stars but also the legends who paved the way.

Two productions stood out from the night, Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors and Lateef Adedimeji’s Lisabi: The Uprising, each clinching three awards and emerging as the biggest winners of the night.

Seven Doors Shines Bright

Femi Adebayo added another feather to his cap, winning Best Lead Actor for his performance in Seven Doors, while Chioma Chukwuka took home Best Lead Actress for the same film. Tolu Obanro also earned the award for Best Score/Music, completing a hat-trick for the film.

Lisabi: The Uprising Holds Its Own

Lisabi: The Uprising had an equally impressive showing, winning Best Indigenous Language (West Africa), Best Art Direction, and Best Make-Up, with stellar contributions from Solihull Badu Noutical, Ayanmo Yakub, and renowned effects artist Hakeem Onilogbo (Hakeem Effect).

Honouring Legends & Trailblazers

The ceremony wasn’t just about new stars — it was also about respect for legacy. Nollywood veterans Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh received Lifetime Achievement Awards for their enduring impact on the industry.

Meanwhile, Kayode Kasum, known for pushing creative boundaries, took home the Trailblazer Award, highlighting his innovation and storytelling excellence in recent years.
