Ayra Starr Cast as Lead in Hollywood Movie Starring Idris Elba and Viola Davis

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr is making waves in Hollywood as she has been announced as the lead cast in the highly anticipated movie adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel Children of Blood and Bone. The Mavin Records star will be joined by an all-star cast that includes Hollywood heavyweights such as Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, and Idris Elba.

Produced by Lucasfilm, the studio behind the iconic Star Wars franchise, Children of Blood and Bone is set in an African fantasy kingdom. The film follows a young woman’s heroic journey to reclaim her people’s stolen magic, blending adventure, fantasy, and rich African culture.

The movie, currently in production, is slated for release in 2027. For Ayra Starr, this marks a major milestone in her career, which has already seen her break boundaries in the music world.

Ayra Starr’s Rising Star: From Music to Hollywood

This movie role comes on the heels of Ayra Starr’s incredible achievements in the music industry. The 22-year-old singer recently made history as the first Nigerian woman to earn an RIAA Diamond certification for her hit single “Santa.” The song, which blends Afrobeats and Reggaeton influences, sold over 10 million units in the United States, solidifying Ayra Starr’s position as a global music force.

“Santa,” which features Puerto Rican artist Rauw Alejandro and Jamaican singer Tarik Johnston (Rvssian), became an international smash hit and was a standout track on her second album, “The Year I Turned 21.” The album, like her debut “Young and Dangerous,” has been a commercial success and is praised for its vibrant, genre-blending sound.

A New Chapter for Ayra Starr

Ayra Starr’s casting in Children of Blood and Bone is an exciting new chapter for the rising star, expanding her influence from music into film. As she continues to shine both in the studio and on screen, fans are eagerly awaiting her next moves, with both the release of her new music and her Hollywood debut on the horizon.
