Rema’s ‘Is It A Crime’ Leads as Most Streamed Nigerian Song of 2025

The Nigerian music scene is already heating up in 2025, with top artists dropping hits and fans streaming their favorites non-stop. Leading the pack so far is Rema, whose latest single, Baby (Is It A Crime), has taken the No. 1 spot as the most-streamed Nigerian song of the year on Spotify.

Rema Takes the Lead with Over 14 Million Streams

Released on February 7, 2025, Baby (Is It A Crime) quickly became a fan favorite. The song samples Is It A Crime from the iconic British band Sade’s ‘Promise’ album, blending nostalgia with Rema’s signature sound. Within just three weeks, it has amassed 14.28 million streams, making it the biggest Nigerian track of the year so far on Spotify.

  • OdumoduBlvck’s ‘Pity This Boy’ ft. Victony – Off to a strong start with 7.58 million streams. OdumoduBlvck also secured eight Headies nominations, including Next Rated.
  • Lawrence Oyor’s ‘Favour’ – The gospel hit has gained 6.6 million streams, resonating with listeners through its uplifting message.
  • Asake’s ‘Why Love’ – The YBNL star’s latest single has reached 3.25 million streams.
  • Ayra Starr and Burna Boy – Both artists have landed in the Top 10, with Ayra Starr’s All The Love and Burna Boy’s Update, which sets the stage for his upcoming album, No Signs of Weakness.
